Florals have been all the rage this year; from spring to summer and now to fall! That’s why I teamed up with Sara Shookman and Cleveland’s WKYC 3 team to explain how you can transition your pieces into the cold weather!
How Do I Transition Florals For Fall?
It’s super easy to transition florals into fall! Just switch out those pieces with bright colors for ones with a dark background, toning down those vibrant colors for a more autumnal palette. The best part: you can transition your dark floral pieces from work to date night to weekend!
Date Night Outfit Idea
For a date night, you can try a dark floral tip with fun details like a tie front! Pair it with a dark pair of jeans, so you can throw on jean jacket; when pairing two denims you should always use different colors! Jean jackets are another top trend for this fall, and they’re perfect for layering on those chilly autumn nights. Add some statement earrings for a fun flair, and if you’re looking for a trendy date night shoe, try target; they’re super fun, and you can switch them out without having to invest too much. Pro-tip: When it comes to accessories, don’t do it all! Less is more, and you definitely don’t want to overdo it.
Work Outfit Idea
For workwear, you want to be a little more conservative when you add in dark florals; a puffy sleeve is another great trend that’ll keep you looking professional at work, as well as a statement necklace and ankle pants. If you want a pop of color in your shoes, make sure you take it from one of the colors on your dark floral top. Block heels and pointed toes are super popular right now (and super comfortable!) Pro-tip: If you don’t like the way ankle pants fit you, substitute them for a straight leg pant instead! For the fall, you want straight leg pants to hit right at bottom of your ankle.
Everyday Outfit Idea
For a more casual look, try finding a dark floral in a t-shirt material. You can pair it with a trendy utility jacket and some jeans in any kind of denim you’re comfortable with. Finish off the look with a cool, casual sneaker so you feel comfortable while still looking put-together.
Pro-tip: Make sure your pops of color adhere to your personal color palette. If mustard washes you out, try olive or burgundy! (Curious about your color palette? Check out the “What’s My Style” quiz)
