Today, I stopped by the WKYC studio to share scarf tips on Lunch Break with Jay Crawford.
Wearing scarves can be a challenge. Everyone wants to infuse them into their wardrobe, but when it comes to execution, you may feel pressure to wear it creatively. I’m here to share how you can use scarves as a simple tool to switch up your outfits ideas.
HOW TO WEAR A SCARF TO WORK
The key here, for wearing a silk scarf to work, is having the right the sized scarf. You want it long enough to flow down the front of your outfit so you’ll want to purchase a square silk scarf that’s between 35″- 40″.
To style it, fold the square in half to create a triangle. Roll or scrunch that triangle into a tube/line and then drape it over your neck.
Adding a scarf like this into your workwear is great because it provides color, pattern and variety in a quick and inexpensive way. Instead of buying another patterned blouse, for a couple dollars you can add in a scarf to pair with your solids.

HOW TO WEAR A SCARF TO CASUALLY
A blanket scarf is perfect for your everyday look because they’re bulkier, cozier, and will keep you warm as you’re running errands.
Similar to the silk scarf, a blanket scarf will come in a large square. Fold it in half to create a triangle, then place that triangle down the front of your chest. Criss cross the ends of the scarf behind your neck and then pull them back around to the front. This is a kerchief style (like a handkerchief) and while it looks advanced when wearing it, it’s actually really simple!

HOW TO WEAR A SCARF ON A DATE NIGHT
A pashmina scarf is perfect for your fall and winter date nights and your summertime ones as well!
In the warmer weather you can use your pashmina as a wrap. Simply drape it over your shoulders for those cooler evenings when you’re more dressed up.
Wearing a pashmina for cold weather is equally simple! Take the scarf and loop it over your head (just like the picture above). Let the two ends drape down in front of you and make sure to pull on the circle around your neck to loosen it up.
To really maximize your wardrobe, put your neutral solids to work by buying a colorful and/or patterned pashmina. Add a jacket (either leather, suede, utility, jean, or a coatigan) to add warmth and another dimension to your look. You can also add one that’s neutral to go with all of your dressier coats and outfits!
