Are you wearing your tights and leggings like crazy right now? They’re a must-have during this cold weather, but lots of wear can lead to lots of tear. That’s why I recently met up with Sara Shookman and Cleveland’s WKYC 3 team at Cascades Boutique in Chagrin Falls to share my tips and tricks for extending the lives of your leggings and tights.
How To Wash Your Leggings And Tights
When it comes to caring for your leggings and tights, wash them inside-out on a delicate cycle. The biggest problem you’ll face with these items are holes, runs, and pills, which come from wear on the fibers of the fabric.
By washing the garments inside out, you’re allowing the wear to happen on the inside of the fabric. While it will inevitably pill from the constant rubbing in the washing machine, at least it won’t be on the side everyone can see. You can even consider washing them in a bra bag to keep them extra safe and extend their life!
When it comes to drying these items hang drying is always the best option to avoid additional rubbing (and accidental shrinkage) while they’re drying. If you’re like me and everything always goes in the dryer, simply use a lower heat cycle- although expect you might have to replace your leggings and tights more frequently!
It's been a fun journey from 10 year old "designer" to full-time entrepreneur and stylist. I'm now a wife to my hilarious and genius husband, Collin. A Mom to my two favorite boys, Jack (6 month old) and Henry (our furbaby). And proud to be back in Cleveland where we were both born and raised!
